We drove to Eugene Oregon today, and eventually ended up in Salem. The state Capital. We are spending the night in Salem tonight.
Today we went to a drive though wild life safari in Winston.
It was a lot of fun! We saw bears, giraffes, buffalo, lions, tigers, wildebeests, beautiful spotted deer, llamas, emus, cheetahs, and many other things. There was even a walk through area like a zoo. We saw monkeys, snakes, a legless lizard, a maned wolf (so beautiful!), flamingos, geese, Koi fish, cougars (also beautiful creatures), etc. I really enjoyed being able to go there. It was a surprise our Mom planned for us. :)
We also went to the Cascades Raptor Center in Eugene ( one lady we asked for directions from thought it had to do with rap music. Ha ha!) It a place where they rehabilitate birds of prey, then later release them back into the wild. Sometimes though, there are birds who can't ever be released back into the wild, because they had injuries that didn't heal right, or they went blind in one eye, etc.
They had all kinds of hawks, falcons, kites, a marlin, owls, eagles, and many other kinds of birds. They were so cute and pretty! I wanted to stay all day! I loved it there. I took quite a few photos, too. :)
We then drove here to Salem. For a lot of the way, it was solid green trees as far as you could see. Some of the trees are already turning red and yellow. It was beautiful!
We are staying at the Howard Johnson Motel.
It has an outdoor pool that I swam in for a little while. It was a bit cold, but I enjoyed it.
I guess that's it for now.
To be continued... :)
