Today's Quote of the Day

“We may speak about a place where there are no tears, no death, no fear, no night; but those are just the benefits of heaven. The beauty of heaven is seeing God.”

Progeria Treatment Discovered!

About a year or so ago, I stumbled across a rare (and fatal) disease called Progeria (Pro-jeer-ee-uh). I was interested, so I looked up more information on it, and I watched a couple of documentaries on children with it. I was so sad at what I found. I'm still very sad! The children who have this disease age so rapidly, they rarely live to be 13 years old.
When I discovered it, there was still no known treatment or cure for this condition. A couple of years ago, some people decided to try to find a treatment. I was hoping and praying that they would. I just realized that I hadn't looked up much more about it for a while. I was just thinking about it a few minutes ago, so I thought I would see how things were going. I was so surprised and ecstatic to read that they had finally found a treatment that works! Praise the LORD! I am so happy for those children involved in the tests.
I hope they can finally live more healthy, happy, and longer lives!

Scripture Quote of the Day...

"Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
  He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers."

Psalm 1:1-3

Brownie in a Mug

My Sister and I made this for the first time today.
It turned out very well and yummy!
It was also super easy and fun to make. :)

Missed it!

I was going to try to see the "Blood" moon last night, but I forgot that it was going to happen, and I slept right through it! Rats!
My Mom tried getting up to see it, but it wasn't visible from our point of view.
Oh well, maybe I'll see another one some day. :)

"Blood" Moon...

There is is going to be a "Blood" Moon tonight. Well, more like tomorrow actually. It sounds like the best time to see it is at 1:30 in the morning. Ugh! Why are all the good things so early in the morning!?
I would like to see it, but I don't know if I will be able to get up that early or not. We'll just have to see. :)

27 Years and Counting... :)

On October 3rd, my parents celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.
While they were out spending some time together, my Sister and I baked them a maple cake. We had fun surprising them with it when they got home.
It was very good. :)

I'm so glad that God gave us such wonderful parents.
We could never ask for better ones! :)

Happy anniversary to the best Mom and Dad ever! :) <3 <3 <3

Bird Rescue Attempt

One of our cats caught a House Sparrow.
After I managed to save it from getting eaten, my Mom brought it into the house to show my Sister.
We put it into one of the bird nests I originally made for WildCare, but then decided to keep. We then moved it to a quiet place so it could rest.
A few hours later, it looked like it was doing pretty well. It was trying to fly, and it was eating out of our hands and drinking water. It also sat on our fingers and chirped a few times. We were very exited! :)
This morning though, our Mom found that it had died in the night. we were sad to hear about that.
I'm just glad we were able to help it out. Even if it was only for a short time.

(Thinking about sparrows just made me think of one of my favorite Bible verses, and one of my favorite hymns:)

'"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."'
Matthew 10:29-31

'"His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me."'

Days of '49

Last weekend was the "Days of '49" wagon train event.
On the 27th, they had a crank organ event in a nearby town.
There were several organs up and down the street.
It was a lot of fun seeing and hearing them! :)
On the 28th was the big wagon train thing. We went for a couple of hours after church.
There were quite a few people in costume.
They did a couple skits, and a gunfight. I enjoyed that. :)
I really like reenactments. I guess that's because I love history!
There were some musicians there, too. They sang and played a lot of old songs. I had a good time listening to them. :)
It also rained pretty well that day as well. That was nice, too.
I glad we got to go. I had a great time. :)
